Beyond the Status Quo |
|
Michael Gray's dissatisfaction with his clients' high Self-Employment
Taxes led him to develop strategies for reducing this burden -- and
the results have been dramatic. Mike and Jim have restructured a wide
variety of businesses to achieve significant savings in Self-Employment
Tax. The beneficiaries include businesses in real estate, construction,
staffing, design, apparel sales, and software consulting.

Michael W. Gray |
|
Mike is a Texas CPA and has a master’s degree in management and
post-graduate studies in accounting. After serving more than 10
years as a Regular Army Finance & Accounting Officer and
five years as Assistant State Auditor, he co-founded the firm
of Gray & Stuewe. Sid Stuewe retired in 1996, but Mike
and his colleagues continue to help small business owners and
individuals reduce their tax burdens. Together, the accountants
at Gray & Associates PC prepare more than 300 tax returns
each year, and Mike serves as corporate secretary and tax
officer for more than 50 client corporations.
Mike uses the experience he gained in other pursuits to help
his clients. He taught tax and accounting at The University of
Texas at Austin in 1989-90 and 1997-2000, and served in the Army
Reserve from 1988 to 2003. His reserve assignments included several
years each in the Army Finance School, in the Office of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff, and in the Defense Department Inspector General’s
Office. Mike was called back to active duty in 1991 to conduct
an audit of military purchasing in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait at the
end of Operation Desert Storm. Upon his retirement from active
military service in 2003, Mike was awarded the Legion of
Merit by the Secretary of the Army.
